Development of Video Ideas
Out of the first three ideas we had number three was the one we chose:
Idea three would be more walking around Sheffield with a little bit of dancing too. This would be a lot more causal than a full northern soul dance. The models could also wear northern soul styled clothing, makeup and hair. The main aim for this video would be to present northern soul style and create outfits that fit in with the theme. We could use northern soul music to fit in with their actions and capture our idea of what northern soul is.
We chose this idea as we wanted to show a deeper meaning into what northern soul meant to us so by creating this kind of video it meant we could have a wider range of ideas and include more variety throughout the video.
I think shots walking round Sheffield or different locations in Sheffield should be in the video as the video is based in Sheffield and by choosing these locations it will show where we think northern soul fits into with the locations available.
I think different outfit changes throughout the video would be really effective and show many different styles that were popular at the time and show the good understanding we have of northern soul. We could get clothes from charity and vintage shops as well as borrowing from friends and family.
I think more than one model would be good in this video has it would add more variety and a wider range of shots as well as more outfits to show. By having a male and a female model this would allow us to show clearly the northern soul style on both genders and display what we think that style is.
For the range of shots I think walking shots around to show clearly the location and spinning shots with the female model wearing a long skirt for a dance aspect. After deciding our concept we will be able to plan more shots before beginning to shoot the video.
